Her character in the role of Ashley Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is her most well-known. She began singing at age four. Her mother would encourage her to go to an audition with Sesame Street. She began acting as an actor regularly in 1985 when she was a six year young girl on Sesame Street, a PBS children's show. Her acting career continued in New York City with many shows that included Fences which was a Broadway production, as well as Orfeo del Campo which is Off-Broadway's production. She was the winner of Star Search twice when she was just seven years old. The second time she performed, her performance earned her a rating of four stars.
